Below are facts about North Carolina energy and factors that can grow our nation's energy and economic security: 

• The oil and gas industry in North Carolina supports over 146,000 jobs and contributes more than $12.4 billion to the state's economy, representing 3% of the state's GDP.
• produces more than $30 billion annually in total government revenue.
• America’s oil and natural gas industry supports 10.3 million jobs throughout the economy and 7.6 percent, or $1.3 trillion, of GDP (2015).
• Pro-energy policies could, by 2035, generate $122 billion in annual government revenue, and create 2.3 million new jobs.  
• In North Carolina, the average oil and gas industrry salary is $53,624 (non gas station), whereas the stat;es average salary is $45,022. 
• North Carolina does not currently produce and oil or natural gas, although it is believed that some may exist in the central state's shale and coalbed area. 
• North Carolina is on of the nation's top producers of electricity from nuclear power, which provides 32% of the electricity.  Nuclear surpassed coal as the leading source of fuell for electrical generatioin in 2015.  Coal provides 31% and natural gas provides 28%.
• 7.1% of North Carolina's utiliy-scale electricty came from renewable resources, about half of which was hydro.
